It’s time to throw the baby out with the bath water

I’m not going to do it in every circumstance, but I’ve decided that sometimes, society needs generalizations. Generally speaking, it is a good idea that we all follow the posted speed limit. Sure, some of us may be better drivers and may be able to handle higher speeds, but we all need to follow the generalization that decides what speed is safe in a particular area.
We, as a society, need to follow the generalizations surrounding convicted sex offenders. Sure, some of them were convicted only because they were “heeding the call of nature” in a public area. But if they don’t know the ramifications of that behavior by now, it’s time to put ‘em in the tub and throw them out with the bath water.
I’ve tried to avoid generalizations till now, because I wanted to see all sides of everything. Well, I’m tired of looking at all sides at all times and I think some generalizations can help some of the time.
