Still Single?

I could be wrong, but I think I’ve now spent more time as a divorced person than I did as a married woman. I suppose I’ll want to get married again one day, especially when I’m an empty nester and I want a backgammon partner. I can’t blame people for trying to find someone they like, I just haven’t bothered to go looking for quite awhile.

A good friend of mine has a 30-something relative that’s never been married, although he wants to be. ASAP. He has been complaining to everyone that he can’t meet the right woman. He lives in one of the nation’s largest metro area, and he can’t meet a girl that wants a long term relationship with him?

Personally, I think he is looking in the wrong places, and is using the wrong standards for meeting females. From what I understand, he chooses dates based on whether or not they like the same sports teams he does. If she doesn’t like his teams, then he won’t ask her out. I’m not a big fan of professional sports anyway, but I think it’s a pathetic reason to start and build a relationship. I think he needs to understand that a lifelong commitment needs to be built on something more important than the most recent Super Bowl winners.
