The BBD thinks she is being poisoned

The BBD has never been a picky eater. My son has taught her to eat Dum-Dum pops, one lick at a time. When she was younger, she had to learn that the litter box is not her own personal all day buffet.

We usually bought her a variation of some Kibbles N Bits or dog food made by Del Monte. No particular reason why, that’s just what she seemed to enjoy the most. However, because she’s a big girl, she had the tendency to inhale in like my son inhales a bowl of Rice Krispies.

Then MLL found Royal Canin brand dog food for her two little guys and she told me what a great product it is. I checked out their site and I agree. MLL really liked that Royal Canin offered breed specific mixtures for some popular breeds, and that the formula for big dogs is different than the formulation for toy breeds.

So we’re trying to get the BBD to switch brands. This is a dog that thinks stale peanut butter is gourmet food, but she’s resisting the switch for some reason. She’s not starving, but she’s not wolfing down her food like she used to. I wonder if its because she doesn’t want to bother chewing her food?

I’m still going to keep her on the Royal Canin because it’s not one of the companies that were part of that dog food recall. I’ll have more to say about the recall in a later post when I’m not so angry about the whole situation. In the meantime, I think my dog might enjoy a bit of yogurt as an after dinner snack.
