More than mere ABCs

This site shows the development of our Roman Alphabet. It starts with the early Phoenician characters and shows how they changed when used by the Greeks. The next step shows the contributions of those wild and wooly Etruscans, then finished by the additions from Latin. Pretty cool to know how our alphabet developed and I wonder if it will change any further? Will future generations look at this post and wonder what these characters mean?

Maybe she should’ve taught him to obey the law

There’s a local story that’s brewing and will probably ooze over into the national news and show up on Drudge soon. A 16 year old Mexican national was here illegally. He was driving, and was stopped by law enforcement for squealing his tires and going 22 miles over the speed limit. He and his two friends/passengers ended up being deported back to Mexico.

So now his mother is claiming that her son didn’t know his rights and wasn’t told his rights by the Police. First off, the kid was driving without a drivers license. Second of all, the police don’t have to give you your rights during a traffic stop. Thirdly, if she is so upset about her son’s situation, why did she let him get deported all by himself?

There’s so much more I could say about this, but I better stop until I can write in a calm and objective manner. I’ll just finish by saying that no wonder the kid breaks the law, he learned by the example his mother is setting by being here illegally.

Tonight on the local Fox news

I just saw that they’re going to tell everyone how to litter box train your dog. I think that could be very handy for little dogs, but I don’t think the BBD would go for that idea. Come to think of it, considering her massive size, she and I may agree that its better that she should go outside to obey the call of nature.

MLL’s construction woes update

The construction workers spent all day sanding her kitchen floor, but they only managed to sand away an area about the size of the base of her refrigerator. I wonder, if she were to flip a nutty and whack them upside the head with an over ripe banana, would that be covered under her Home Insurance ?

I don’t think she’d ever do something like that, but just in case, I’m going to go over to her house for a visit. While she’s not looking, I’ll sneak into her home office and quietly review her insurance policy.

Lessons learned from MLL’s remodeling construction

Right now, there are seven workers at her home and they’ve been there since early this morning. There’s dust in every part of her house because they’re sanding the glue off her floor. The good lesson is that she got online and found exactly the new flooring she wanted and at a lower price than she expected.

The bad lesson… well, she has medication that she has to take every day. But she packed it away along with everything else that had to be packed up, and now she can’t remember where it is.

(Wow, this just proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that we’re much closer genetically than I thought possible. I had assumed that I was the only one that did those sort of things.)

Something every site owner thinks about

Whether you have a blog, an informational site, or an e-commerce site, everyone wants to attract more traffic to their site. After all, what good does it do to have a site that has the cutting edge look of web 2.0 if no one comes to visit?

For many sites, search engine advertising can be a dynamic way to attract and retain visitors. Instead of your site being mostly an afterthought, you can transform it into compelling source of development for your business. As a matter of fact, many have found that the website optimization services of Customer Magnetism generated more sales for their site than all other forms of advertising combined!
