Do you remember watching Yukon in the Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas show? If you ever wondered why he licked his pickaxe so often, I have the answer:
It seems that Rankin Bass edited out a scene where Yukon discovers a peppermint mine! Just think, all this time I thought he was looking to get rich because he wanted to turn a profit on the prevailing silver price . I don’t know how to look it up, but wouldn’t it be interesting to find out how much silver has increased in price since the special was first shown in 1964. I’d be willing to bet that silver is worth far more than any peppermint that Yukon may have dug up back then. I guess it would be fair to say that when it comes to investing and speculating, poor ol’ Yukon is definitely a misfit.
