Now that they’ve closed all their locations, sold off the fixtures and dismissed all the employees, it looks like Krispy Kreme will be opening again in Mesa. One of the city’s officials confirmed that Krispy Kreme obtained a city license to operate.
I just hope that they have a better business plan this time, because I remember all the employees that got stiffed out of their last pay checks. I don’t know if the company ever paid them, but it was sad that the workers had to deal with the hassle of getting their rightful pay.
My son, PS, just came home with a surprise for the BBD. I thought he had gotten something like a box of dog biscuits, but no…
He brought home a gigantic bone. It was commercially prepared, but it’s about as long as my forearm. I am talking HUGE! As a matter of fact, I am beginning to wonder if an elephant mistakenly wandered by the pet food processing plant.
“Where do you want to go?”
“I don’t know, where do you want to go?”
“Well, what sounds good this year?”
“I don’t know, do you have any ideas?”
If this conversation sounds all too familiar and replays in your home on a nightly basis, you and your family may want to consider an all inclusive mexico vacation. The Heard museum, world renowned for highlighting the history and arts of tribes, decided to end its use of “Native Americans” when referring to tribes and will use the term “American Indian”. Jake James, a Phoenix resident who is Hopi/Gila River, is OK with American Indian because it “designates the Indian population of the United States,” said James, who is an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community.
“For clarification, it’s a good step in the right direction. I just hope that in the future we would be called Americans,” James said.
However, there is not a united consensus for this decision and some legal scholars see today’s debate as a trend among tribes to find a correct name.
I am so glad that the mosquitoes at the zoo do not have the West Nile Virus. If I remember correctly, the Phoenix Zoo is the largest privately funded zoo in the country, taking no government money but relying on their income and donations instead. I would hate for them to have to deal with the specter of West Nile there because they need every dollar they can attract.
Which reminds me… Go to the Phoenix Zoo before it gets too hot to enjoy. It’s one of the best deals in town and if you take binoculars, you may be able to figure out who’s buried in the pyramid atop Papago Peaks.
Here I was, minding my own beeswax, and then all the sudden, I hear a knock at the door. Turns out that MP called a local pizza place and ordered some ‘za. I wonder how many families in America call for pizza delivery on Friday nights when the week is over? Come to think of it, I wonder what the most popular night of the week is for ordering pizza?
(I don’t know if this is nationwide because I saw it on an Arizona site.)
If I remember correctly, doesn’t Arizona rank among the top states for identity theft? Personally, I’ve always thought it was due to the transitory area. There are so many people that move here, and I’m sure that some of the new arrivals are unsavory characters that may not want the local law enforcement officials to know their real names.
I read that Staples Stores have Shred stations where you can take your papers and safely have them shredded to bits. The site even has a list of documents that it suggests you save vs. dispose. Speaking from personal experience, identity theft is really a pain and hard to resolve, even after you find out that someone is out there, pretending to be you.
