This year, it has been an unseasonably cool spring. I’m not complaining, but it’s usually much warmer by now. I’m talking high 80s and 90s by this time of year. But according to wunderground, our high temperature today was 72F.

However, some of the writers at AZCentral have actually tried to imply that our local temperatures have recently been severely impacted by global warming. One of them actually admitted that its much cooler than usual, but if it wasn’t for the heat island and global warming, then Arizona would be even much cooler.

Huh???

I admit that I haven’t spent a lot of time researching global warming and its causes. Off the top of my head, I tend to think that it’s just something that’s cyclical and I take a dim view of all the political correctness about the subject. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty disgusted that the Weather Channel has called for decertification of meteorologists who are skeptical of global warming. I mean, aren’t they all supposed to be scientists? Isn’t the core of science to keep an open mind and carefully examine all evidence and points of view? I’m sorry, but there are too many dissenting opinions on both sides for anyone to state as an empirical fact that global warming is caused by humans.

One Response to “Weekend Leftover: If it was warmer, then it wouldn’t be so cold”

  • Shane :

In my opinion, the fact that skeptics get so much flack for voicing their opinion points to the possibility that everything is not on the up and up.

Enron was one of the biggest proponents of Carbon Offsets (Gores solution to global warming) as they felt they would make billions of dollars from them.

Any time Billions of Dollars is used, Corruption is not far to follow, unfortunately. :/ It doesn’t make sense that Gore’s solution isn’t to do anything that would upset people, like ban 8 cylinder engines, airconditioners, etc. His solution is to pay some company *money* to plant trees and invest in ‘Green Energy’.
