I’m blushing now

My landline rang. Which is weird and unusual because I usually don’t even have it plugged in. As a matter of fact, I tend to forget I have it because we all use cell phones. Meanwhile, my dog, the BBD, gets excited every time she hears a phone so she’s making tons of noise. We’re talking growling and howling and a bit of roo-roo-rooing for good measure. (I wonder if she’s hoping for a phone call from a long lost relative or something?)

So, I figured that the caller was a relative and I, being bright, witty and wacky, answered the phone accordingly.

It was the phone company.

She politely informed me that I owed them $57.42 and asked if I wanted to pay them now?

I managed to stammer out my card information and apologized profusely for forgetting about them and their fine, fine service.

I had thought about having the landline disconnected, but decided against it. Who knows, the BBD might just end up getting that call she’s been waiting for.

Pencils and Toner and Binders Oh MY!

You know, one of these days, everyone in my family is going to have to sit down and discuss our mutual obsession about office supplies. But for now, we’ll all happily discuss topics like the merits of various types of staplers, or the best kind of mechanical pencil to use, or where to procure the best deals on office supplies.

Come to think of it, we probably won’t have to debate that last topic, because I think I found a site that has some great deals. From now on, we all won’t talk about where to get our office supply “fix”, we’ll all just talk about what our favorites are. For example, I prefer correction fluid that you paint on with a dauber, while MLL prefers the kind that dispenses like tape.

Uh oh, I sense another family debate brewing…

;-)

I need to eat more fish

I try to eat it, honest I do. But the problem is….it just tastes so fishy. I do like a good fish stick about once a year, provided I have plenty of tartar sauce on hand.

I just found a great recipe for fish at a very nice blog. I don’t know if I’ll ever make this, but I thought I’d show the blogger some linky love and also keep the recipe link for my own future reference.

Maybe I’ll actually buy some fish on my next trip to the grocery store. Oh wait, I forgot, I’ve been having my groceries delivered. I wonder if the personal shopper at the store is very selective about buying fish? After all, when it comes to fish and meat, you need to know what you’re doing. The personal shopper did pretty good on my order last week, but how careful do you have to be when picking out cans of chili?

I haven’t watched Survivor for awhile

I’m watching it right now and I don’t remember any of these people. Darn, I wish I would’ve paid more attention earlier in the season. They’re all standing on little footholds and trying to keep from touching the ground. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I’d probably last about two minutes at that challenge.

I’m rooting for the guy wtih the hat. Maybe it’s my age, but I like to watch the older contestants beat the young whipper-snappers.

And the guy with the hat just won individual immunity! Wooo!

My son taught me a new phrase

My son called me, he’s on his way home and wanted to know if I needed anything from the store. He told me he was at Walmart, watching the security team trying to stop a panhandler. He said that the security people there were senior citizens, and besides, the beggar turned out to be quite healthy and was probably a hobo ninja.

I just did a google search, and there really is a Hobo Ninja. I haven’t looked at the site to see if it’s suitable for all ages, I’m just surprised that someone thought this up.

Solar Cooking

Awhile ago, I found directions for making your own solar cooker that basically works as an outdoor slow cooker. It looks easy to make, I just haven’t gotten around to it.

I found a company that sells something they call a solar barbecue. I’m not too concerned about the “carbon footprint” that one site says I create when I cook. I just figure that since there’s so much sun in AZ, this could be a great way to cook without having to buy fuel for my barbeque grill.

The problem is, I keep finding sites that review the item but I can’t find the original site that sells the item. From what I could tell, it sells for between 100-200 dollars. Which would be more economical than having to replace stuff when MP starts one of her BBQ fires.

FOUR Drownings in three days

I can not believe the number of children in the metro Phoenix area that have died in the past few days. Do people/parents not realize that they need to keep eye to eye contact with their little ones at all times? These are senseless and needless tragic deaths.

Please please please ALWAYS watch your kids around water, whether its a swimming pool, bath tub or a bucket of water.
