Still sick

I was going to write the funniest blog post ever, about my sister’s birthday and the cavalcade of gifts. However, I’m just too sick right now to make much sense, so I’ll give up the idea for now. Too bad her birthday only happens once a year, eh?

I don’t know why I got bronchitis in the middle of summer, but it’s really not fun to be this sick in this weather. Normally, on a weekday, I write between 3 and 6 posts, but right now, even finishing this one just seems like too much work.

Flights to Canada?

Not really, that’s just the title of the most recent opportunity I took . I have to admit that my hands were trembling as I typed. I was also very concerned that the BBD would choose that exact moment to do her Rhodesian Rhumba of Doom and knock me offline like she’s done so many times this week. I don’t know how she does it, I just know that if she gets too excited then she jumps around and my wi-fi antenna takes a coffee break.

So, I am sitting here waiting to get the official word that my post is approved. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be approved because I made sure that the word count was right. I almost forgot the disclosure badge, and as a matter of fact, I was so nervous that I grabbed the purple one by mistake. Oh well, it will stand out even better.

Some may wonder why I am so excited about winning a PS3, when I’m clearly not a techno-geek. Well, as a single mom, I know that as my son ages, we will have less and less in common. Which isn’t a bad thing per se, and lets face it, I don’t want to be discussing mascara with him like I can with my daughter. So, I see the PS3 as something that we can share and something that we can enjoy together. Of course, he’ll beat the tar out of me at every game because he always beats me at games. But when it comes to sharing fun time and building happy memories with my family, I think we will all end up being winners.

Companies: Please stop sending me Mother’s Day offers

I appreciate the gesture, but there is no way you can get the merchandise to my mother before Sunday unless I pay massive shipping fees. Why didn’t any of these businesses look at their calendars last week and realize that they needed to do their Mother’s Day sales then?

While I’m venting, I have to comment on the items that are being offered as gifts. I mean, who would give Oprah-approved luggage tags as a Mother’s Day gift? I know that my mother wouldn’t be pleased with something for a suitcase, and as for me, I would rather have almost anything else. Heck, a Taco Bell chalupa would be a better gift than a luggage tag.

Anyone in Australia know Henry the artist painter or Greg Moore?

A lady named Ruth recently lost her beloved husband Mick. In the past, an artist with the possible first name of Henry painted a picture of Mick because his face was interesting and full of character. Ruth is trying to locate the artist so she can just see what the picture looks like. Her blog describes the situation far more eloquently than I did, so please take a few minutes to read her post, and if it touches you, maybe you could add her story to your blog as well.

Islam Supremacy and hatred taught by Muslim Mickey Mouse clone

I know that not all Muslims are murdering terrorists. I know that not all followers of Islam want to wipe Israel and the United States off the map. I know that there are extremists in every group. But doggone it, after watching this very disturbing video, I have to wonder who is teaching what to their children.

Please note that this may not be suitable for children that read. There are no violent images or profanity, but I found the language to be shocking. Also, even though many people are using Firefox, this is best viewed in IE.

After watching the video, you can find further information on the main page of the site.

I don’t know why I never remember Old Navy

I was just talking to my son about one of his least favorite topics, shopping. He likes to look nice, but he’s not interested in the thrill of the hunt like I am. When it comes to online bargain hunting, I dominate. He’s pretty good at finding deals, but not as good as me.

Anyway, I always forget to check out Old Navy’s site. I don’t know why, they have some terrific items. This time, I’ve got it open in another window, so I think I’ll see what they have to offer.
