Our dog, the BBD, doesn’t know that she’s not a tiny dog. I don’t know if you’ve ever had a Rhodesian Ridgeback try to sit on your knees, but there’s nothing quite like having 80 pounds of dog in your lap. She may not be a poodle, but she loves to be cuddled and treated like one. I bet she would look adorable in designer dog clothing and would probably really enjoy the extra attention she would attract while being dressed up.

I was about to go to sleep but then I saw a teaser for NOVA scienceNOW on PBS. That darn Neil has a way of making everything sound interesting, but this time, everything sounded irresistible.
So I stayed up and watched. One of the segments detailed “Kryptos“, a coded sculpture at the CIA headquarters. Of course, they had to tantalize me with some talk about basic cryptography as well, and I have to admit that they covered a lot of information in a short amount of time while being entertaining as well.
So now, I’m wide awake, Nova’s over, and I’m watching Bob Ross paint a silhouette of Florida. I’ve watched him paint many times before, and I always cringe when he adds the inevitable but totally unnecessary humongous pine tree.
Oh wait… does Florida even have pine trees? Maybe this painting will actually be safe from his coniferous machinations.

But the good news is that I don’t think I’m going to have a re-re-re-re-relapse. Up till now, I’d have one or two days of feeling good, and then I’d feel worse than before. I may actually be on the road to getting better! Woooo!!!
So much stuff to do online. For example, I think I missed most of the “do-follow” action and I don’t even know if its too late to participate. I also have to decide whether or not to install an “will blog for bucks” badge or not. Hmmm… I think I’ll leave that one on the back burner a bit longer. In the meantime, it feels great to feel good!
FDA says Food Recall is Urgent

I hope that everyone has checked everything in their pantry to make sure that they don’t have any of the recalled food on the list. You’ve got to make sure to check carefully because there is more than one brand name involved. Castleberry is just one of the names on the labels of the contaminated food recalled by the FDA. Apparently, they’re owned by Bumble Bee, which in turn is a part of Connors Bros. Income Fund. I am really disgusted with both of these right now because neither of them have any recall information whatsoever on their site. I understand about subsidiaries and such, but these companies need to show some moral responsibility and spread the recall information in all ways possible.
It probably won’t make a difference to Bumble Bee or Connor Bros, but I won’t be buying any of their products for a long time. If they can’t do their part to warn the public, then they don’t get my money.
I am NEVER going back to ebay ;-)

There’s a video game that MP wanted, and it actually sounds like a game I could play successful. Someone was selling a used copy on ebay, so I put in a bid. I watched the auction anxiously, and was tickled when I got the winning bidders notice. Paid for it promptly with PayPal, but then decided to compare prices to see what kind of a bargain I got.
Turns out that I could’ve gotten the exact same game, brand new, on Amazon for ninety cents more. I don’t blame the seller for trying to make a profit, its my fault because I should know by now to check first, bid later.
Oh well, let’s hope the game is as fun as it looks.
I’m wearing out the ‘ebay’ button on my keyboard

Now that I think of it, I remember why I slowed down so much on selling on ebay. It’s because when we have something listed, I can barely resist the compulsion to refresh, refresh and refresh again.
But I have to blame that totally on MP. She used to be so good at finding stuff to sell that her listings would usually draw tons of bids. For example, at a thrift store, she found a pair of earrings for 99 cents. They looked gaudy and too colorful for my tastes, but what the heck, they cost a buck, and she might’ve decided to wear them sometime.
Well, instead of wearing them, she decided to put them up on ebay. They turned out to be pure ivory, made by Ming’s of Honolulu, and the final bid was close to five hundred dollars. Boy, the bids for that listing went faster than I could click. Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to happen for this listing, but at least the item will definitely sell.

I found a site that has a searchable word list designed for word games. Now, I’m not advocating cheating, but it could come in handy in certain situations. Like when I’m sitting here, clicking refresh while watching the end of MP’s auction.
So far, she only has one bid, but that’s better than no bids. Frankly, I thought ebay was dead during the summer, but I guess I was wrong about that. I’m still glad that I don’t sell very much on ebay any more, it drives me crazy to sit and wait for people to bid. When I buy online, I really don’t care about the ‘thrill of the hunt’, and I don’t understand people that laugh gleefully when they’re able to snipe at the last moment.
Oh well, at least I have something to do now, while I wait for the ending. I think I’m going to look at the word list and memorize all the Q words that do not have a U in them. Then again, that’s probably a pretty short list, wouldn’t ya think?
