My son brought home a bag of Dum Dum pops today from the store. What a nice surprise! They’re one of my favorite kinds of candy. The variety of flavors seem to change from time to time. I remember they used to make ‘buttered popcorn’, but I didn’t see that in the bag. At their site, they want people to vote for their favorite flavors. That’s not too hard for me because I like butterscotch, root beer and strawberry. I’m not too fond of grape, so I just give them to the BBD. I never knew dogs like lollipops, but she likes them almost as much as I do.

The first step to successful gift shopping is to step out of your online comfort zone. Now, I don’t mean ordering from bizarre sites like www.GeorgesOnlineVideoStoreAndFishingHats.com but there are plenty of great deals at reputable sites.

For example, Plow & Hearth has some adorable pouches for iPods at a terrific price. Originally priced at $24.95, they’re on clearance for $4.99. They’re made of Neoprene, so make sure your intended recipient isn’t allergic. Personally, I run screaming like a little girl any time someone waves Neoprene around me, so this would NOT be a suitable gift for yours truly.

While you’re there, make sure to click on the link that says 50 to 80% Off Items. You’ll be amazed at the prices of some of the items. Now, some of them may not be conventional gift items, but think outside of the box a bit. Would a nature-loving kid enjoy the Insect Theatre? Is there someone on your list that would appreciate a Fleece Hood Wrap? It’s on sale for $14.99, saving you 57% of their original price.

They also have some Christmas decorations on massive clearance. For example, you can get a 7-1/2′ Pre-Lit Tree for $159.99, marked down from its original price of $399.95.
