No, I’m not talking about meeting together in order to start an office uprising, I’m talking about cleaning up the mess on your desk. Let me guess, you’ve got tons of paper, work reports and even some old periodicals you’ve been meaning to read. You’ve got one little clean rectangle of personal work space that’s the size of a file card. Everything’s stacked so high that your co-workers can’t tell whether or not you went to lunch. Your boss has noticed that his request for the latest report has turned into your own personal game of hide and seek. Everyone’s complaining, and tired of the way your work is impacted by the condition of your desk. Maybe a little poem will inspire you to do something about it:
If you don’t want to hear any flak,
On your desk keep a magazine rack
If you get lots of mail,
You’ll need one without fail.
And I know that you won’t take it back.
