I was just over at CNN, and apparently, Sen. John McCain has given them exclusive right to release his new campaign video. Among other things, it shows him being interrogated while he was a POW during the Vietnam War. His entire experience was pretty harrowing and someone else may have died enduring what he endured.
But does that make him a good candidate for President? I know he’s from Arizona, and I *should* be rooting for him, but I’m still undecided. I can’t even decide whether or not this video was/is a good decision on his part. I guess I’ll watch it again, but I also would like to find out what others think of it too.
Inwardly, I had made a resolve not to use my blog to whine about the high temperatures here. Yeah, I know it’s been around 110°F / 43°C here lately. I’ve seen the recent headlines on Drudge, something about more-record breaking temperatures in Phoenix. But I didn’t give them much thought because I was staying nice and comfortable in my cool home.
Until last night, that is.
About 9 p.m., we all noticed that our home had gotten noticeably warmer. Of course, something was broken, but I was able to find someone that would fix it first thing in the morning. I had a decision to make: Do we try to make do till the morning, or do we head out to a store and buy some floor fans for temporary relief? I finally decided that it would probably be cool enough during the night, so we stayed in.
Staying home was a choice that I regretted many times during the night.
I tossed, I turned, I woke up 72 times. I jumped in the shower to cool off at least once or twice, and I’m pretty sure my kids each took a turn as well. Come to think of it, one of the cats was also in the tub at some point, but I was half asleep and don’t remember the details very well.
Everything got fixed bright and early (THANK YOU! THANK YOU KIND PERSON!) and so it was a matter of time for the house to start cooling off. During the wait, the shower was once again put into use several or more times. Of course, the indoors temperature seemed to take forever to become normal so MP, in order to boost morale, went out on a surprise donut run. Woooo! They were heavenly too, especially since I hadn’t had one in six months. I carbo-loaded and then passed out on my bed. Of course, now I’m behind on everything. Oh well, at least my home is now nice and cool.
Btw, if you’re thinking of moving to Arizona, it is insufferably hot here at times. I know they say its a dry heat, but then again, so’s the inside of a brick oven.
