Well, I’m sick…. AGAIN!!

Darn, this is about the nine thousandth time this year I’ve gotten sick. It’s terrible, because I’ll be lying in bed, thinking of all these great things to blog about. Then I get up, finally turn on the computer, and find that my brain is fried from the fever.

Oh well, as the old saying goes, “If you can’t say something nice, link to someone who does…” I don’t know this blogger, but I like the testing they did. Go read the post, its more interesting than anything bouncing around in my brain right now. But don’t blame me if you decide you have to do your own in-depth studies on this topic, just make sure to put the necessary supplies at the top of your shopping list.

Mark Lowry offers beauty hints

If you’re a fan of Mark Lowry, you know that he’s been vlogging and posting his videos at YouTube on a regular basis. Right now, he’s on the “Be The Miracle” tour with LordSong and Stan Whitmire, touring mostly in the eastern part of the U.S. through November. I have to admit that I didn’t know who he was until recently stumbling across one of his performances on YouTube. I’m embarrassed to admit that until I saw the video, I thought “Mary, Did You Know?” was written by Kenny Rogers. *blush blush*

Not only is Mark Lowry a talented singer, composer and performer, he also has some great beauty hints, aimed primarily at men his age. There’s other great stuff on the video too, but guys should definitely pay close attention to the first segment.

Is Greed Good?

I’ve been watching a video on YouTube, originally made by John Stossel. In it, he explores capitalism, greed and the desire to succeed. Frankly, I think more people need to be greedy, and push themselves to make their own success. What would it be like if everyone stopped looking for a handout? I wonder why some people don’t think themselves capable of being self sufficient? I think that some people do want to make their own way, but don’t want to look too ‘greedy’.

(I have some things to say about greed and Walmart, but I’m a bit tired to do all the research that’s necessary. I hope to be able to post about it in a few days, but I’ll tease you by saying my opinion is probably going to surprise a lot of people.)

And now, a word about Arizona’s Death Row

I was reading a news story about a murderer in prison, clicked on a link, and next thing I know, I’m reading the various last meals of criminals executed in Arizona. I don’t know why the Arizona Department of Corrections put that information on their website, maybe they get a lot of requests for that type of information. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with putting the information online, its just that I don’t understand why they included so much detail. For example, one piece of scum, before his execution, ate “Six fried eggs, cooked over-easy, 16 strips of bacon, one large portion of hash-browns, one pint of pineapple sherbet ice cream, one “breakfast steak” well done. One 16 ounce cup filled with ice, one 7UP, 1 Dr. Pepper, 1 Coke, one portion of hot sauce, one cup of coffee, two packets of sugar and four Rolaids tablets.” Nice to know that Arizona didn’t want him to have heartburn before his lethal injection, eh?

Personally, I pretty much support the death penalty, UNLESS the family of the murder victim is opposed. I know all about the studies done on recidivism, have read the arguments that it makes us look barbaric, and have considered the opinions of those opposed to the death penalty. I’ve never had a loved one murdered, and I can’t even begin to contemplate the torture their families endure. I feel if the victim’s next of kin need restitution, and the only way we as a society can provide that for them is by lawful execution, then I see no reason to stop executing murderers.

Mr. Uncle, the cat with OCD

Okay, I’m not trying to make light of anyone’s medical condition, but I think I have a cat here that is wacky. He seems to really stress out if things aren’t the way he wants them. He doesn’t attack when he thinks things are disarrayed, he just gets this peculiar look of dissatisfaction on his face…

Physically, he’s very pretty, looks like a Siamese mix. But he does NOT like to be held or touched, although lately he’s started sleeping on top of my daughter at night. He’s not snuggly or anything, he just perches on her after he thinks she’s asleep.

Oh yeah, he also patrols the litter box on a regular basis and if the other cats haven’t done a thorough job of ‘covering their tracks’ to his satisfaction, then he will start digging until he is convinced that he has ‘hidden the evidence’.

Does he sound like he has issues, or what?

Poor Ol’ Dubby

Right now, Dubby is perched on my knee and has made it very clear that he is. not. going. to. move. He’s such a sweet cat, no hint of feline ego. However, last year, he ran off for about a month, and since then, he acts like one of those guys on Magnum PI with post traumatic stress disorder. One day, he’ll be just fine. Then the next day, he’s scared of everything and acting like the enemy is hiding behind every piece of furniture. He’s a tuxedo cat and was so pretty until he disappeared. Now, he looks like he’s wearing a tuxedo that’s been slept in and needs ironing.

Cat talk

Right now, I’d love to play with Karen, but she’s snoring away on my bed. She’s probably worn out. She had a hard night of pestering me and biting my nose while I was asleep. Come to notice it, all the cats are dozing in various places around the house. What a life they lead. Get up in the morning, have a snack, then breakfast, then two more snacks, take a nap, eat lunch, take another nap and wake up in time to have three more snacks before dinner. I’m amazed that none of them are overweight because they never seem to move, unless they hear the can opener.
