A post I almost wrote

Many people, including myself, do blogging for pay. I have a simple expectation that advertisers will be upfront and honest with me about their product, and in return, I will do the best job I can when writing about their product.

I almost started writing about a health related service, but for some reason, the name set off my hinky meter. I did a quick search, and found that the service is a business that is owned by the Scientology organization. I realize that they call themselves a “church”, but I prefer not to use that designate based on the definition of that word.

So, instead of getting paid to write about them, I’m going to post a link to Operation Clambake, a site that has tons of information about the workings of Scientology.

I agree with Operation Clambake and I’m really irritated that Scientology wouldn’t be upfront with the bloggers and tell them who they are really blogging about.

Oh well, lesson learned, and thank you Lord for search engines.

The Bombardier beetle

I was just reading about the Bombardier beetle and think it’s pretty interesting. It almost sounds like the Rube Goldberg device of the insect world because of the complex way it does something as simple as protect itself.

I just also read that the beetle seems to be at the center of a bit of a controversy between creationists and evolutionists. While I don’t consider myself to be a strict “Young Earth” creationist, I don’t believe in evolution at all. To me, evolutionists seem to take more on faith than people that believe in the Bible.

Walter Cronkite said WHAT?

Just last night, I was talking to my son about conspiracies and conspiracy theories. I told him that I generally try to avoid seeing any conspiracy where there isn’t one staring me in the face. Although, if I were the richest person in the world, I would make sure the game was played the way I wanted to because I’d be the one with all the marbles.

There was something on the local news about Cronkite, he’s a chair of journalism or something at ASU. So, I decided to look him up, see how old he is, etc.

I was SHOCKED to read that he is actively advocating for a one world government! This isn’t from a site run by a guy hiding in a basement, this came from a fairly reputable site. Cronkite actually said, “It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace.”
Considering that there are militant groups of Muslims that don’t seem willing to compromise, who does Cronkite suggest capitulate? Remember, there are terrorists that will settle for nothing less than total destruction of Israel and the U.S. How in the world does Cronkite propose dealing with them?

Jeff Childress, Christian singer

I was reading another blog and found this Christian singer’s site. I have to say that I am very picky when it comes to music. I don’t try to dictate other’s tastes but when it comes to music, I know my tastes differ from most.
I would definitely buy anything put out by Jeff Childress and I really appreciate that I could listen to his music at his site. His songs are light hearted but also touches your soul at the same time. He is definitely unique and I hope the Christian music industry decides that he is commercially viable.

He seems to have a lot of talent, and I hope to hear more good things from him in the future.

A carnival I’d like to check out

I should try to get involved in a few blog carnivals. I found one recently and it’s a very nice carnival, something I’d like to enjoy when I have more leisure time. This one is a carnival about Christianity, with various Christian writers providing edifying posts. I also want to find a blog carnival of Christians just living everyday lives.
