Rain in AZ

Darn it all, I was all set to have an action packed day filled with all sorts of tasks to complete. But now, it’s dreary and soggy, so all I want to do is to lie down and snuggle a cat. Or two. Or three. Maybe Karen the kitten and I will take a quick snooze, then I can get up and do what I want. I have a great post planned, full of drama, excitement and car chases, but it seems its either time for a nap, or a cup of cocoa with marshmellows. I ask you, is it even possible to write a post filled with drama and excitement while enjoying the snuggly warmth of Swiss Miss hot chocolate?
P.S.- I exaggerated about the car chases. There won’t be any mentioned in my blog in the foreseeable future. I have to admit that I never ever drive over the speed limit. Am I the only one that sticks to the speed limit? Do you speed occasionally, or only in an emergency, or every time you drive?
Why don’t they make Wasabi Flavored Rice Cakes?

I have to confess that I’m a fan of rice cakes. Yeah, I know everyone says they taste like styrofoam, and while I wouldn’t quite debate that point, I would like to point out that they’re not as bad tasting as some claim. Karen the kitten loves them too, especially the white cheddar flavor. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that she merely sucks off the cheddar flavor and then spits out the rice in a secret location.
My only complaint is that they need more variety. Why doesn’t Quaker Oats make them in a nacho flavor? Or even Tabasco? Awhile back ago, we tried Wasabi Flavored Funyuns, and those were pretty darn good. I was surprised at how much I liked them, and I’m disappointed that I can’t find them any more in my local stores. I wish Quaker would buy up the unused Wasabi powder and use it to spice up a few batches of their rice cakes.
I do eat a lot of rice cakes, mostly at the keyboard lately because I’m spending so many hours working online. Sometimes, it feels like that’s all I’m doing is sitting with Karen on my lap, while I work on the laptop. The other day, I thought my days at the laptop were going to have to go on hold for awhile, because I thought I had broken it. As I was closing the lid, I heard a small, sickening crunch. I was afraid that somehow, I had cracked the screen, and almost didn’t want to open back up to see how bad the damage was. My daughter was in the room with me, and we both gave each other those big moon eye looks, like “OH NO!”
So, I gave out a big sigh, and opened the case very slowly… didn’t see anything at first glance, so I opened it up all the way. Screen was fine, but way in the back, at the hinge, was a crushed kernel of a rice cake.
Do you suppose Karen put it there?
Mark Lowry offers beauty hints

If you’re a fan of Mark Lowry, you know that he’s been vlogging and posting his videos at YouTube on a regular basis. Right now, he’s on the “Be The Miracle” tour with LordSong and Stan Whitmire, touring mostly in the eastern part of the U.S. through November. I have to admit that I didn’t know who he was until recently stumbling across one of his performances on YouTube. I’m embarrassed to admit that until I saw the video, I thought “Mary, Did You Know?” was written by Kenny Rogers. *blush blush*
Not only is Mark Lowry a talented singer, composer and performer, he also has some great beauty hints, aimed primarily at men his age. There’s other great stuff on the video too, but guys should definitely pay close attention to the first segment.
Mr. Uncle, the cat with OCD

Okay, I’m not trying to make light of anyone’s medical condition, but I think I have a cat here that is wacky. He seems to really stress out if things aren’t the way he wants them. He doesn’t attack when he thinks things are disarrayed, he just gets this peculiar look of dissatisfaction on his face…
Physically, he’s very pretty, looks like a Siamese mix. But he does NOT like to be held or touched, although lately he’s started sleeping on top of my daughter at night. He’s not snuggly or anything, he just perches on her after he thinks she’s asleep.
Oh yeah, he also patrols the litter box on a regular basis and if the other cats haven’t done a thorough job of ‘covering their tracks’ to his satisfaction, then he will start digging until he is convinced that he has ‘hidden the evidence’.
Does he sound like he has issues, or what?
Poor Ol’ Dubby

Right now, Dubby is perched on my knee and has made it very clear that he is. not. going. to. move. He’s such a sweet cat, no hint of feline ego. However, last year, he ran off for about a month, and since then, he acts like one of those guys on Magnum PI with post traumatic stress disorder. One day, he’ll be just fine. Then the next day, he’s scared of everything and acting like the enemy is hiding behind every piece of furniture. He’s a tuxedo cat and was so pretty until he disappeared. Now, he looks like he’s wearing a tuxedo that’s been slept in and needs ironing.

Right now, I’d love to play with Karen, but she’s snoring away on my bed. She’s probably worn out. She had a hard night of pestering me and biting my nose while I was asleep. Come to notice it, all the cats are dozing in various places around the house. What a life they lead. Get up in the morning, have a snack, then breakfast, then two more snacks, take a nap, eat lunch, take another nap and wake up in time to have three more snacks before dinner. I’m amazed that none of them are overweight because they never seem to move, unless they hear the can opener.
Karen, the Interior Decorating Kitten

I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. Karen is showing her displeasure with my current decor by adding her own innovations and improvisations. For example, I caught her this morning playing “Tarzan” on the drapes, swinging back and forth like she was Queen of the Jungle. She was having so much fun and couldn’t understand why I didn’t share her enthusiasm for her new hobby. Right now, I’ve got the drapes tied up in a makeshift way, but I need to find a better solution.
I think aluminum mini blinds are just what I need for my home. They’re lightweight, and available in a wide variety of sizes. They’re also durable and scratch resistant. Of course, Karen might not be too happy with the thought that she won’t be able to wreak havoc on them, but then again, if she wants to indulge in her unique method of renovating, she can always “rearrange” the cushions in the dog’s bed.
