My review of Lisa Reviews

Lisa doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going to post my opinion about her site for everyone to see, bwahaha.

First of all, I LOVE the name. I don’t think a lot of bloggers realize the importance of picking out a good domain name. I don’t want to step on anyone else’s toes, but I think a good dot com name that is easy to spell can help your readers find you much easier. To me, LisaReviews.com is very easy to remember and easy to find.

Now, about her template… I LOVE it, I TOTALLY LOVE IT! I love the blue, love the palm trees, love the little storks with the bundles in the sky. The whole look makes me want to stay around and read everything she’s posted.

Speaking of her content… this is a fairly new blog for Lisa, I’m assuming its to augment her other blog, My Thoughts, Ideas and Ramblings. Personally, I think its a great idea to have a separate review site from your main blog, and I may just “borrow” that idea from Lisa soon. But no matter which blog of hers I visit, I always enjoy reading her posts. She’s a very insightful writer that knows how to engage the reader and keep them interested.

My only suggestion/complaint is that I can’t find the links to both blogs on both sites. Maybe I’m overlooking something, but I’d like it if her review site had a tab titled something like,”My other sites”, with a link to her “Thoughts” blog. That way, I could jump back and forth, making it easier for me to enjoy her creative and unique writing.

How I got a TON of hits on my blog today

I logged in to check my stats, it shows 1039 hits + 678 hits on my rss feed. Now, I’m not sure exactly what an rss feed is. Well, I know what it is, I just don’t know how everyone accesses everyone elses so easily. I know I should find out all about it, and I will one day, I just have other fish to fry right now.

So I ask my daughter about this amazing upsurge in hits to my blog. She reminds me that yesterday she did a back up of all our blogs using a great freebie she found at BlogBackupOnline.

Ummm…. okay.. yeah, come to think of it, she told me that already and even explained the hits our sites would get from the back up. I guess I just forgot it when I saw all those numbers.

Darn. I was secretly hoping that all my posts about my lifelong dream of acquiring an Acquanetta doll were beginning to pay off.

“The Strangest Sights in Google Earth”

This is yet another terrific looking site that I don’t have time to fully investigate right now. One of the pictures shows a giant 200 ft. long pink bunny in Prata Nevoso, Italy that answers to the name “Hare.” Another picture was made possible by a cooperative effort between National Geographic and Google. The project, “Africa Megaflyover”, shows stunning pictures, such as this close-up view of camels and their caretakers in Nigeria, taking a water break.

“America’s Got Talent” Can’t Hold a Candle to….

I found this amazing video of Japanese Human Art on youtube recently. It’s best if you’re not too close to your monitor. As a matter of fact, it looks downright amazing as long as you lean back just a bit. I could never come up with something this creative. Even if I could envision something like this, the execution on this is amazing. I guess that’s why I admire these performers so much:

Need an online Scrabble dictionary?

I found a site that has a searchable word list designed for word games. Now, I’m not advocating cheating, but it could come in handy in certain situations. Like when I’m sitting here, clicking refresh while watching the end of MP’s auction.

So far, she only has one bid, but that’s better than no bids. Frankly, I thought ebay was dead during the summer, but I guess I was wrong about that. I’m still glad that I don’t sell very much on ebay any more, it drives me crazy to sit and wait for people to bid. When I buy online, I really don’t care about the ‘thrill of the hunt’, and I don’t understand people that laugh gleefully when they’re able to snipe at the last moment.

Oh well, at least I have something to do now, while I wait for the ending. I think I’m going to look at the word list and memorize all the Q words that do not have a U in them. Then again, that’s probably a pretty short list, wouldn’t ya think?

You NEED this if you have a web based business

My sister has a successful web site that’s been up for several years. Of course, it’s easy for her to find out how her site is doing from here, but she needs to check out www.YouMonitor.Us and their global website monitoring. For example, I just ran a free status check on her url and found out that her site is NOT loading well in London. This could be crucial to her because many of her visitors come from the U.K. The site’s graphical reports are comprehensive, very easy to understand and give up to the minute information.

The ecommerce market is only going to get more and more competitive each day, so you need to use cutting edge technology to keep yourself in the game. If you have a website, then you need YouMonitor.Us Website Monitoring so you can see how the world sees you.

Listen to music from 1888

I found a great site that has tons of old, old songs available for listening. For example, it has a recording made by Thomas Edison, called “The Lost Chord”. It also has recordings from jazz and blues legends, as well as historic names like Gene Autry and Blind Willie Johnson.
